History of MJS Insurance, Inc.

On September 7, 1955, Lloyd Michael started his contract with Meridian Mutual Insurance Company which was a successor to Farmers Mutual Liability Company which was established in 1925, the Conservative Mutual Insurance Company which was established in 1877 and Farmers National Mutual Insurance was established in 1938. Lloyd Michael started the "Lloyd Michael Agency" in his home which was located in the house across the street from our present location.

In 1962 more space was needed so 20 X 30 addition was added which housed three offices on the west side. Arthur Jones (son-in law) had completed four years of college at Purdue and was out of the Army decided to join the firm. In September 1962 Art started studying for his license and worked for Lloyd.

In 1965 Art Jones purchased the "Floyd Guinn Agency" in Clinton. Marvell, daughter of Lloyd, worked in the office in Clinton on 5th Street.

In 1968 the name was changed to "Michael-Jones Insurance, Inc." due to the merger of the two agencies.

In 1983 Lloyd's wife, Aileen who was the secretary and bookkeeper died. Esther Greene was hired to be secretary and bookkeeper. Esther still maintains the books to this day.

In 1985 Lloyd's health had failed which prohibited him to work.

November of 1986 Esther's son-in-law, Jack Silotto, who already had his license and had a contract with American Family started working with the agency. In December of the same year Jack purchased the "Warren Brown Agency", this agency dated back to 1933.

In June of 1990 Jack became a shareholder and a junior officer. In the same year the present office was built. The staff moved in over Labor Day weekend.

Also in 1990, David Crane, who retired from Prudential after 31 years, joined the Michael-Jones Insurance, Inc. team

In December 1992 Julia Hickman started working in the office as Secretary and office comedian.

January 1, 1996 the agency changed its name to "Michael-Jones-Silotto Insurance Inc."

2003 brought about many changes for the agency in January George Smith, formerly of State Farm Insurance joined the team as an agent. On July 9th, the town of Rosedale, was hit by a major storm with catastrophic damage to the small community. Art was out on medical leave, recovering from knee surgery, and to the shock of all of the team,  George and Julia ran the office from the front porch of the office as all power and phones were out for several days.

On July 10, 2003 our good friend and partner Jack Silotto went on to be with the Lord as he passed during surgery to install a pacemaker.

January 2004, our agency was once again growing as  Dana Fiordelise joined the team as a new CSR.

January 2005, Michael-Jones-Silotto, Ins. changed its name to MJS Insurance, Inc.

May 2006, Becky Wallace joined our team as a new CSR.

In August of 2006, George became a shareholder and a junior officer.

Our current team consists of Art Jones, George Smith,  Dana Fiordelise, and Becky Wallace.
